LG Optimus 3D phone hits market

 National

KATHMANDU, OCT
CG Impex, a subsidiary of the Chaudhary Group (CG) and the sole authorised distributor of LG mobile phones in Nepal, has unveiled a glass free 3D phone, the LG Optimus 3D. The phone, according to the company, has been introduced with the aim of satisfying the wishes of hi-tech gadget users. The handset operates on the Android v2.2 (Froyo) Operating System (OS) which can be upgraded to v2.3 OS.
“The device has been launched with a motive to make available all the devices manufactured by LG mobiles,” said Ramesh Shrestha, general manager of CG Electronics. “As the penetration of high-tech mobile handsets accounts for only around 1-2 percent in the domestic market, the phone will have a niche market. The LG Optimus 3D phone is targeted at high-tech, gadget-savvy people.” He added that the company had targeted selling around 25 units of the handsets monthly.

According to CG Impex, the LG Optimus 3D is a showcase of superior speed and power, made possible by LG’s world’s first “tri-dual” configuration — a dual-core processor, dual-channel and dual-memory architecture. The company claims that this combination enables users to enjoy significantly improved performance and run-time compared to other smartphones. Unlike other dual-core smartphones with a single channel and single memory, the LG Optimus 3D enables simultaneous and thus faster transfer of data between its dual core and dual memory.
The Optimus 3D has a 4.3-inch touchscreen that displays 3D pictures and videos without the need for daft glasses. The entire phone’s pre-loaded 3D content is gathered in one place in an application called 3D zone making it more convenient for users to navigate the 3D contents. Moreover, there is a shortcut on the home screen and a dedicated hot-key placed on the side of the camera button for easy access to 3D contents. The machine’s display also encompasses an accelerometer sensor for UI, auto-rotate proximity sensor for auto turn off and gyro sensor for touch sensitive controls.
The phone also comes with a 3D real-time recording feature, 5 mega pixel dual cameras with auto focus and LED flash optimized in the handset to capture the best 3D footage. Users can share content to HDMI/DLNA and view 3D videos on the large screen effortlessly with the help of an HDMI 1.4 connection to 3D equipped TVs and monitors and with Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) Certified compatible products. As far as its memory is concerned, the phone can accept unlimited phonebook entries and call records. The device comes with 8 GB storage and 512 MB RAM. For those wanting more space, they can add a microSD of up to 32 GB.
The handset is a perfect choice for those who like to play games on their mobile phones. One can enjoy games like Nova, Gulliver’s Travels, Asphalt 6 and Let’s Golf 2 by adjusting the 3D while playing games inside the screen. These games are preloaded in the machine. Users can also download games as per their taste through the Android market.
The phones come with a 12-month warranty on the handset and six-month warranty on the battery. Buyers will get a special Bluetooth headset for free with every purchase of the LG Optimus 3D. The phone is priced at Rs 59,999.
