The tagline for Silence Festival II incorporates the words “since forever”, indicating that Silence Entertainment—which has been promoting underground and metal music for a while now—plans on doing so for a very long time. It was with the intent of providing global exposure to local metal bands in Nepal that the festival was first conceived by the organisers. This year’s installment of Silence Festival is being held at the Jawalakhel Football Ground on Oct 15, 2 pm onwards.
Expecting around 4000-5000 attendees, and with international acts coming all the way from Poland and Switzerland, Silence Festival II is going to be the biggest metal show Nepal has seen so far. The main attraction will be the Polish band Vader. They will be performing some of their popular older songs as well as songs from their new album Welcome to Morbid Reich. Swiss bands Helmut and Commando Noise Terror will also be playing alongside Nepali metal bands such as Hatebook, Antim Grahan, Underside, the Inner Core and Nepal-based Singaporean band Kalodin.
The concert promises to be every head-banger’s dream come true, bringing forth the raw, loud energy characteristic of the genre. The sound quality is also expected to be good as it is being managed by Helmut guitarist Sam Albert. Albert also oversaw the sound for the first Silence Festival which took place in the winter of 2010.
Aside from entertaining the crowds at the concert, Vader and Commando Noise Terror will also be facilitating a workshop at the Tone Music Store, Tangal on October 16 and October 18 respectively.
The tickets, which cost Rs 500 and Rs 400 for early takers, are currently available for purchase at Ink Inc. Tattoo in Thamel, Tone Music Store in Tangal and Silence Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Silence Street.
